Release History ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Overview In this self-extracting file you will find * 9100 application software version 5.20.0000 This software is now working on all 9102 and 9103 instruments and on all 9101 instruments from serial number 5004001. It is not working on 9101 with a lower serial number. If you need a software update for your 9101 with a serial number 0004, 0104, 0204 or 0304, the latest version is 2.21. To obtain this version for the mentioned instruments, please contact our technical support. If a 9100 instrument is mentioned below, it refers to the 9101 as well as the 9102 and the 9103. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2. Prepare for installation To install the new 9100 software, you need a Windows PC with a free serial port (also known as RS-232 interface or COM port) and a null-modem cable or a free LAN port (also known as RJ-45, use a crosslink cable for direct connection). If you use a LAN- Connection for the update, please be sure that the IP adresses of the 9100 and the PC are matching in terms of network segments. We strongly recommend to use the Ethernet port for the update due to time reasons. The new software for the 9100 comes with its own update wizard. The 9100 Data Exchange Software is not needed for updating the 9100. Make sure you have saved your settings, traces, channel systems and limit templates on a PC using the 9100 Data Exchange Software. Take care, that the 9100 and the connected PC/Notebook are powered from an external power supply during the complete update procedure. ATTENTION: Avoid interrupting the update process! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. 9100 application software update procedure: 1. Download the file above to your local PC/notebook. 2. Run the downloaded program file on your PC/notebook. The file is a self-extracting ZIP file containing the installation files. 3. Connect the 9100 to the PC/notebook using a null-modem or LAN cable (see warnings above). 4. Run the Willtek_9100Setup_5_20.exe on your local PC/Notebook. The file is a self-extracting ZIP file containing the update program. 5. Click "OK" to confirm the software update. 6. Click the "Setup" button to start the update process. 7. Choose your preferred connection type (see warnings above). For installation using a serial connection, choose the appropriate COM port (COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4) and use the same bit rate as selected on the 9100, preferably 57600 bit/s. The update process via RS-232 will take up to 45 min. For installation via LAN connection enter the IP address of the 9100 and use the same software port as selected on the 9100, preferably port 49200. There is no need to set the Host IP address on the 9100. To view the IP/serial settings of your 9100, enter the System menu by pressing the Mode (or Meas on older panels) hardkey, followed by pressing the I/O Config softkey. The IP address of your 9100 is the address shown right next to Target in the TCP/IP menu. 8. Click "Start" to begin the update process. ---------- Avoid interrupting the update process! --------- The 9100 is rebooted automatically. 9. When prompted, press any key on the 9100 to continue the update process or the "ESC" hardkey to cancel. At the end of the update process, the program will indicate "Update complete" and the 9100 will load the new software. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Notes: Do not downgrade to an earlier firmware version after version 5.20 has been installed! There is only one software version for 9103, 9102 and 9101 with a serial number higher than 5004001. If you apply the latest software update version 5.20 to the 9100, the latest version 5.10 of the 9100 Data Exchange Software is needed in order to work properly in remote control mode. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6.
